Hey people! Ever heard of endangered species?Their animals that only have a few of it's kinds left.Well today,I'm gonna talk about a might.to.be specie. Scientists lay iron traps into the ocean at night,then in the morning they pull the traps back up to measure,tag and also photograph the chambered(which means in many compartments) nautilus after that.they set the nautilus free.Scientist Peter Ward is leading a study of sea creatures.Peter Ward wants to see how many nautilus r left.Nautilus has been around for more then 500 million years!But,some scientists r afraid nautilus r in danger of disappearing.People has been killing nautilus for the shell to make decorations and jewelry.Scientist r looking for info about nautilus to see if they should be listed as endangered species.Scientist,Peter Ward is determined to try to save the nautilus.
Patricia De Angelis of the U.S Fish and wildlife Service says that between 2005 and 2008 579,000 nautilus shell products were brought to in to the U.S.
Scientist Peter Ward is surprised by the number and is hoping to go on more trips to count how many nautilus r still alive. Peter Ward came up with a plan to count and study the nautilus.
